Transmission freezing when downloading large torrent?

Transmission seemed to work fine until today, and it might be because of the file size which is a 15GB file. If I look at the network activity, the download speed spikes up to my max download, then drops back to zero, then back up to max again, etc. I'm only connected to 1 peer which is my office T1 line that's uploading the file. Every time I upload other files from work it seems to work smoothly but in this case it's not being very stable. Is there a way I can fix this?

No, the fastest speed I am working with is 50Mbps (6 megabytes/sec). I just took the easy way out and am using a different torrent client to download and it works fine now. It's a temporary fix I guess, because I really like Transmission. Have you any idea when a patch will fix this?

Yeah I seem to have a similar problem where I'm downloading a 30 GB torrent and Transmission is freezing every once in a while, which makes the torrent start and stop every few seconds.

Old problem. VERY old problem. The devs are unable to fix this, most obviously. Transmission manages to completely kill Mac OS's network stack. All connections are interrupted.

I'm seeing the same problem. I've got a ~15GB torrent and if it's downloading Transmission will beach ball for a few seconds, then become responsive for a few seconds and loops like this until the torrent is paused. I've downloaded larger files in the past and haven't experienced this problem before. Other, smaller torrents work fine.

Same thing happens to me. I have to Force Quit Transmission and sometimes that'll fix it. Other times it's so bad that I have to restart.
