I'm a complete newb

Hi, I have Transmission on my Ubuntu laptop. That works perfectly and haven't ever had a need to alter any settings.
I have recently purchased the Trans GUI for my Samsung Galaxy tab, without even knowing what it really was, I just thought, being a newb that it was simply an app to use transmissiong to download on my tab.
I want to know hpw to link the app on my tab to the transmission on my laptop, as in setting needed for both and what the hell I am supposed to do. This'll teach me to get apps without looking into them first. To be honest I don't really know what is is for now!
Can someone give me some idea how to basically get up and running with the android app and also a little about what it is for (I appologize for my inherant thickness, I have only used it on my laptop to download torrents and that is al I know).
