Mac - Closed Ports HEEEEEELP

Post by 11201ny »

I run OS X 10.7.x

I just switched to Time Warned Wide Band, which puts me in a double NAT situation. I have a cable modem hooked up to my Mac Pro through a Airport Extreme. To (unsuccessfully) open my ports, so far I have switched the new cable modem (Motorola SBG6580) to bridge mode (see link below) so I can set the ports up with Apple Airport Utility. Time Warner is a little weird about giving access the control panel for the modem, so it's a bit of a work around.

Anyway, My port mapping knowledge is weak at best. I haven't had to deal with this issue in years. I have gone into the Network tab of the Airport Utility, set the following:

Router mode: DHCP and NAT
DHCP Range: default
DHCP Lease: empty
Enable NAT Port Mapping: CHECKED
Enable default host at: UNCHECKED
Port Mapping:

(For this I have tried plugging in different port numbers. I am not quite sure what to do. I put the same port number in for all public & private ports, and still ports are closed. I have been trying all sorts of different numbers. Clearly I am not crossing all of my t's and putting a dot over all of my i's).

Enable Access Control: UNCHECKED

Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!!
K

So frustrating.

I had previously read through those threads. I feel like I am missinging something seemingly simple.

I have been having the craziest time getting a port open as well. I have been able to in the past. With Airport Utility being updated to 6.1, i have read you just update the port settings under network, the portforwarding website is showing airport extreme from like 5 years ago! far for updated. So can someone here please lay out how to open a port for transmission on mountain lion and latest airport utility with photo's ideally? There really isn't much online about this at all surprisingly....maybe it's ok to have the port closed? Thanks
