If I copy a magnet link from a website and paste it in Transmission's Torrent Address field, I get the error, "Adding magnetized transfer failed." Clicking the link in the browser opens the magnet in Xtorrent, which I keep open for its RSS Torrentcast support. However, even if I quit it, Xtorrent opens when I click a magnet. How do I tell Transmission to handle magnets instead?
Back to the original bug, if I copy the magnet link from Xtorrent's address field and paste it in Transmission's, the magnet works and starts downloading. I've pasted both links in a text editor and they appear to be identical. Why, then, does the one copied from the website fail but the one copied from Xtorrent work?
I'm using Transmission 2.61 (13407) and Xtorrent 2.1 (v168) on a late 2008 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. My browser of choice is OmniWeb 5.11.1, which copies links as plain text, unlike Safari.

Re: Pasted magnets fail unless copied from Xtorrent
I have this problem as well with OmniWeb. I copied the URL of a magnet link from OW and Safari and pasted them to TextEdit. I know Safari works but OW doesn't.
Here is the difference, OmniWeb incorrectly places a forward slash "/" after "magnet:" and Safari doesn't.
The correct format is "magnet" colon ":" question mark "?" "xt" such as magnet:?xt
OmniWeb's format is incorrect it does magnet:/?xt
Incorrect format magnet:/?xt
Correct format magnet:?xt
So if you still want to use OW for this then remove the forward slash after you pasted the magnet link into Transmission's Web UI or where ever else you want to. Lets email OmniGroup and have them sort this out.
