help! latest version doesnt work

hi can anyone help?
today ive upgraded to the latest version 2.61 and the app doesnt download or upload any more. it just sits there.
i am running an older version from the desktop (2.33) which works fine.
can anybody point me in the right direction? thank you!
edit:: (yes i allowed network transmission)
