Hey guys, so I changed the USER variable in /etc/init.d/transmission-daemon to "myusername". I'm logged in as "myusername" and I tried to start transmission-daemon, but I keep getting:
[....] Starting transmission-daemon (via systemctl): transmission-daemon.serviceFailed to start transmission-daemon.service: Access denied
failed!
I'm running on Debian 8 (whatever the latest stable version on Jessie is), transmission version 2.84.
If I run the script as root (su to root), it still seems to start the transmission-daemon as "transmission-daemon" for some reason.
Anyone else run into this? I want the service to be run as "myusername" so all the file permissions on the directories where it downloads/completes works.
