torrents seed, but not uploading

Hi Everyone,
I'm using my synology server to seed and upload torrents. While my torrents are seeding, they aren't uploading (no upload credit). I went into settings in transmission and the peer listening port is listed as 51409 but says the port is closed. Port forwarding from my router is checked, and so is 'enable uTP for peer communication. These settings were there by default so I didn't change anything. Do I need to change some of these settings so the port will open?
I assume I need to open a port, correct? Do I do this with my router? Or should I check 'randomize port on launch' in my transmission settings?
Appreciate the help!
