After years of uneventful use of Transmission (MacOS) I have a new and strange problem.
In the past (for years) if I clicked on a Magnet link, I got a popup message asking if it is OK to open application 'Transmission'. I would say OK, and the torrent would be added to the Download queue in my running copy of Transmission. Easy peasy.
As of today, when I click on a Magnet link, my browser (Brave) tries to open transmission-remote-gui instead of my running copy of Transmission. I have never run remote-gui and have no idea what to do with it. It throws some 404 errors at me and then does nothing helpful.
What has changed? why does my browser (not updated as far as I know) think it should send magnet links to remote-gui instead of good ol' regular Transmission which is happily running 24x7?
This occurred after a forced (power failure) reboot.

Re: Browser invoking wrong Transmission exe... help...
Afterthought: This was after the upgrade to Transmission 4.0.0.
First the 4.0.0 upgrade which worked fine for a few days. Then the forced power cycle crash. Then restart, now I can't use magnet links any more.

Please try Transmission 4.0.1?
And in Preferences > General > Magnet links, hit the Set Default button.
