Tried 4.0.2 now 3.00 fails.

Mojave...

I figured I'd try Transmission 4.0.2... mistake...

4.02 won't launch here. It just bounces in the Dock endlessly until I force quit it. Not a big deal.. thought I'd go back to 3.0 then...

Launch 3.0 and nothing connects....

Some trackers connect and show a peer count.. but no peers ever actually connect.

So.. what did trying to launch 4.0.2 do???? And more importantly how can I undo whatever it was.

I've trashed prefs.. restarted the machine....

Note that qBittorrent is connecting to peers just fine. I REALLY prefer to use Transmission though.

I did get 4.02 to load once or twice.. but it doesn't actually connect to peers either.. and theres a looooooooooooooooooooong delay when pausing or resuming any torrent.

Try resetting the preferences.

Do this by trashing the file ~/Library/Preferences/org.m0k.transmission.plist

Then launch Transmission 4.0.2

As stated in the initial post.. I've trashed prefs. In fact, I've trashed the application support files as well.

Transmission 3 launches and LOOKS like it is operating fine.. but again.. no peers ever actually connect. Meanwhile launching qBittorrent peers connect without issue.

Okay. I used FindAnyFile to find *anything* with "transmission" in it's name on the boot volume.

Deleted it all except the OS "Fax Transmission" items.

Then, reinstalled Transmission 3 from a fresh .dmg.

Finally peers are connecting again.

That'll teach me to try new releases on an open system.

Nope :) Will stick with 3... unless someone can convince me why I even need 4.0.2 on Mojave.

In future install (and properly configure the Setting) an application like AppCleaner. It keeps a log of all installed files when you install an application. Then, when you trash just an application package itself, the AppCleaner application offers to also trash all installed files that were created when you first installed an application as well (this should be standard with MacOS--I don't know why this isn't built-in). But, anyway then you can truly uninstall all those hidden files. It's a necessity.
