ability to modify / add / remove trackers from torrent
as in utorrent for windows, theres a preference on each torrent to specify what tracker URL you want to use.
this is the only thing i believe is missing from transmission

I'd like this too.
Currently the only way I can do this is to open the .torrent file in Azureus and use that to change it. And that I can only do before I import it into Transmission.
Often I have the problem that the tracker a torrent's using in Transmission dies for a few days, and the only peers I can connect to are from PEX which is really annoying.
Does transmission support multiple trackers? Looking at:
http://transmissionbt.com/trac/browse ... /tracker.c
it obviously does, but that doesn't explain my experiences with Transmission when the main tracker (the one shown in the torrent info window) dies.

Here is another useful reason for this to be added: http://torrentfreak.com/moviex-leeches- ... ty-071201/
There is a big controversy over this right now, too long for me to explain it all here, but read that post and it becomes clear. Some users may just blame the torrent client for slow downloads without knowing.
You can get around it by simply deleting the moviex tracker from torrents and keeping the public tracker, but you can't do this in Transmission (yet).

Another way to do it is learning how to do bencoding with your brain by reading http://wiki.theory.org/BitTorrentSpecif ... #bencoding, and learn what's inside a .torrent : http://wiki.theory.org/BitTorrentSpecif ... _Structure.
You'll learn that you have 2 choices :
- Modifying "announce", which contains a string representing the tracker
- Modifying the "announce-list", which is an extension to the spec http://home.elp.rr.com/tur/multitracker-spec.txt allowing for multiple trackers.
It shouldn't pose any problem with already-running downloads because the metainfo dictionary (where "announce" and "announce-list" are located) isn't used to calculate the final file checksum (though my understanding gets sketchy).[/url]
