Transmission 1.42 Released (updated from 1.41)

Post by Jordan »

Edit: Transmission 1.42 is now available for download, fixing a lockup issue in 1.41.

The 1.41 betas were our first public betas, and many helpful testers have made the list of tickets closed in 1.41 roughly three times as long as usual. Thanks to everyone who participated, especially to those who helped with some elusive speed and connectivity bugs. Thanks also to CacheFly for providing bandwidth.

All Platforms
  • Better peer management
  • Support BitTorrent Enhancement Proposal (BEP) #21 "Extension for Partial Seeds"
  • Partial support for BEP #6 "Fast Extension" (reject, have all/none)
  • Honor the peer's BEP #10 reqq key, when available
  • Fix 1.40 "Got HTTP Status Code: 0" error message
  • Fix 1.40 "lazy bitfield" error
  • Fix 1.40 "jumpy upload speed" bug
  • More accurate bandwidth measurement and allocation
  • Fix handshake peer_id error
  • Corrrectly handle Windows-style newlines in Bluetack blocklists
  • File selection & priority was reset when editing a torrent's tracker list
  • Fix autoconf/automake build warnings
GTK+
  • In the Details dialog's peer tabs, rows were sometimes duplicated
  • Minor bugfixes, usability changes, and locale improvements
  • Three new translations: Afrikaans, Asturian, Bosnian
  • Sixteen updated translations
Daemon
  • Fix 1.40 bug in handling IP whitelist
  • Minor bugfixes and output cleanup
  • Windows portability

I noticed that in both the betas and now in the final released version there are 2 "Help" menus in the Menu Bar.
Is there any reason? It looks kind of strange.

UPDATE: I've trashed the preferences and that took care of the second "Help" menu.

And I've had some crashing problems with a crash report if anyone would like to take a look at that. I'm using the final 1.41 build on Mac OS X 10.5 with all updates.

UPDATE 2: The crashes are gone but the second help menu is back

Image

The only thing that the second help menu contains is a link to the Transmission help file that is also in the first.

I just downloaded it and gave it a go. Horrible release. Still going for uTorrent. This release crashes all the time (as the person above me also reports).

Hi!
I loaded the transmission 1.41 and the application becomes unresponsive after a while which forces me to do a Force Quit on the application. I did not see this situation in 1.41 Beta 5 release which I tried. I thought the update might have caused some corruption and downloaded the dmg file again but is the same situation. Please try to fix this problem. I like transmission and use it a lot. I am going back to BETA 5 until then.

Thanks

Transmission 1.42 (7494) is working great now. Upload is rock solid and steady at my set limit of 32KB/s. Downloads are also great, maxing out at ~550 KB/s. Thanks for all the hard work and effort put in by the development team and all the beta testers which supplied feedback.

Also, managing torrents from my iPod Touch 2G is great. I hope the web interface is further improved. Maybe even an open source and free native app, perhaps? I've justed started Cocoa development, maybe that will make a good project.

Keep up the good work!
