Transmission

I had a single download going (~100KB/sec max total) and my kid said it was screwing up his PlayStation online game experience.

So I paused the download, and he said it was no better. But when he quit Transmission, everything was fine.

Does this make sense? Does Transmission use bandwidth even when paused?

Transmission still communicates with the tracker to get information on the torrent. It should not be as high as regular download and upload.

most bandwith problems occur when the upload speed is to high
