All peers disapearing at random

Post by Bozo »

I'm experiencing a strange problem. After starting Transmission (Tried Versions 1.42 to 1.5b5) some time it does not find any peers even with torrents from which I know there schould be a lot of peers out there. This problem occurs at random. Some times I can start a torrent and Transmission finds hundreds of peers and starts downloading really quick. Then I quit Transmission and restart Transmission it does not find any peers for the same torrent. After restarting Transmission several times it suddenly works again. I have no idea what is triggering this behaviour. I have the peer listening port set to 50006 and this port is open and forwarded on my Firewall/Router. Usually the Transmission Preferences show that this port is open. But if it does not work it says that the port ist closed (Even if I do not change anything).

My System:
MacBook Pro, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.2 GHz, Mac OSX 10.5.6, Transmission 1.5b5

Any ideas what could be causing this?

what router are you using and can you access the internet while your having this problem? seems very similar to problems i have been experiencing in the past 6 weeks. i am using a d-link DSL-G604T and have to connect through ethernet to be able to download torrents with large seed/leech ratios (like popular latest TV shows).

sorry this hasn't fixed your problem just narrowed it down a little more.

I had somewhat the same problem:

My fix:
My router assigns port forwarding to a per physical ethernet plug basis. If you change the cables around after setting up all the port forwarding and other firewall settings, you have to reset all the settings to the new way you plugged in all your ethernet cables. I went into my router and deleted all settings and totally reconfigured it to my new set up.

Hope it helps.
