transmisson 1.60 crashes on start

Transmission is not starting for me after the update to 1.60. I'm running Kubuntu Hardy (8.04) and I installed through the transmission lauchpad repo.

When I start from gui, it doesn't start. From the command line i get this output:

(transmission:13631): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_window_set_urgency_hint: assertion `GTK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

(transmission:13631): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_icon_info_load_icon: assertion `icon_info != NULL' failed
Segmentation fault

I tried to purge and reinstall, to the same result. I also installed the nightly build (transmission 1.70-0ubuntu0~hardy0~svn8347) to the same result.

I ran an strace, but this means nothing to me, and is available upon request.

I noticed this bug from 2008 at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/284598 with the these error messages, said was fixed then.

Help is greatly appreciated.

I'm experiencing the same issue too. I'm using Slackware 12.2, and running a binary that I compiled from source. The previous version works fine.

Any news on this?
I just compiled 1.70 and it has the same issue as 1.60 and 1.61 (all compiled from source).
The 1.5x series works without this problem.
