Can not reinstall Transmission 1.54

I am a new user of Mac. I am on an imac running v 10.9.7. My wife is on a Macpro laptop running 10.4.11. I decided to upgrade her to the newest version of Transmission, unaware you required 10.5 and up to run it. After d/l and install of the newest version of transmission, I attempted to run it and of course it said it couldn't run on this operating system. Went to Transmission site and d/l the last version to run on 10.4. However, it just does not want to install. I deleted all the old files and folders and tryed reinstalling again but with no luck. Any ideas?

What do you mean it won't install? It won't open? All you need to do is trash the old application and place in the new one.

Sorry. Too long installing on PCs. I double click the Transmission icon and it simply doesn't open. This was the 1.54.dmg file that I d/l from the Transmission homepage. I checked to see if Transmission is the default program for opening torrents - it is, however, when I double click a torrent file on the desktop, Transmission won't open either. Also tried d/l a torrent online - again it d/lthe torrent file, but doesn't open Transmission. This may be totally my fault since I am a new Mac user and am also working with 10.9 and 10.4 versions.

I assume you mean 10.5, not 10.9? When it fails to launch, what appears in the program Console.app?

Run Software Update (in the Apple Menu). Install the security update that is listed.

Re:livings124 - Thanks so much. That seemed to solve the problem. Transmission is now up and running once again. Thank you again and I'd just like to say, this is a great forum.
