Transmission

This is just something for us all to speculate on. It may or may not be taken seriously.

Many torrent users switch between an average of two or three computers a day, and many also own either one or more portable HDs or 'memory sticks'. Wouldn't it be great if you could carry all of your Transmission torrent downloads with you on your portable HD and have them downloading and uploading on any computer you're using. Transmission to Go can offer that. Storing everything from preferences to the torrents onto the portable HD and working cross platform with Mac, Windows and Linux.

Just set Transmission to download to your external harddrive, and remember to plug it in before starting Transmission. ---> Fixed!

I was thinking more along the lines so the whole application, including settings are also on the portable HD.

Ok, this is what I was hoping to see. I have a dual-boot machine, Ubuntu and Windows 7

I've installed Transmission on Ubuntu and I have it DLing to a folder on the Win7 NTFS partition, so when I boot into Windows, I can see those files that have been DLed. Are you saying that if I install Transmission in Win7, and I point it at that same directory, I'll be able to pick up on the same torrents where I left off in Ubuntu?

That would be really awesome as I switch back and forth a lot and would love to be able to keep running the same torrents. I just wasn't sure if the DL target directory(the one listed under preferences) was the only data the transmission client needed to resume and run the torrents.

I'm not sure if Transmission is compatible with Windows 7, but what I mean is that the app is on the portable HD, so when the user launches it it's loaded directly from the portable HD, the settings (including directories) would also be loaded from the portable HD (and having those directories on the portable HD so they could be used on any computer able to run Transmission)
