Under the torrent inspector (Peers) it would be nice to see a listing of self (in bold or other highlight) to give an idea as to how you appear to the other peers.
(This could be enabled/disabled under preferences.)
Bonus points if this can show the public IP of firewall, but not a requirement.
Peers - proforma listing of self
Re: Peers - proforma listing of self
I'm not sure I understand the point of this. You'd have to have N copies of yourself to show the upload and download speeds, and anyway, it would just be the reverse of the speeds shown by the peer. The encryption icon would be redundant as well.
What is the use case for this feature?

You're right that the UL and DL would be redundant, we can skip that. (We already get that information from the individual torrent listing in the Transmission window.)Jordan wrote:I'm not sure I understand the point of this. The purpose of this is to address the inconsistency that results from the less popular torrents (where I am peered with all the active players) that are summarized at the bottom:
This will also serve the secondary purpose of revealing any inconsistency with % downloaded vs % verified-and-I-am-offering-for-upload (assuming there is a substantial difference.)
Third purpose would be to show the public IP of myself as shown in the torrent trackers.
Examples:
Total Leechers: 3 (and I only see two listed, I am the 3rd one.)
Total Seeders: 6 (and I only see five listed, I am the 6th one.)
*Total Leechers: 12 (and I only see four listed, ....)
*Total Seeders: 29 ( and I only see six listed, ....)
*These last two cases are less important.
Re: Peers - proforma listing of self
It's very difficult to determine this IP both (1) accurately and (2) reliably. Add in (3) portably and you're in for a world of coding pain for a nice-but-marginal feature... so although I see your point and agree with it somewhat, this feature isn't going to happen anytime soon.x190 wrote:On this subject, I would like T to be able to display the IP that peers see for me. Would be very useful to check the effectiveness of things like VPN, for example.
