Headless GTK + creating torrents from directories

I'm running Transmission GTK 1.54 on a headless box running CentOS (it has a monitor i connect when i need it..)
I'd like to be able to use xwindows to connect and run the GTK from my XP PC, but I can't figure out how to get the GTK started in my VNC Viewer, or in XMing.
Ultimately, the goal is to be able to use Transmission's torrent-creating tool in the GUI to create and start torrents in Transmission. I saw that there is a way to remotely create torrents for a headless box using transmissioncli but this doesn't seem to work unless the source is a file, rather than a directory. Most of the torrents I want to create will be created from directories - i.e., folders of albums of MP3s. Transmissioncli chokes if I feed it a path as the source rather than an actual file.
Anyone have any ideas how I can launch the Transmission GTK in VNC Viewer or Xming? I've had no joy so far..
Thanks!
