System slowdown when download size exceeds HD

Post by Mr.Jagil »

Hey guys, I have a problem with Transmission:

When I attempt to open a torrent file which requires more space than what is currently available on my HD, my entire system slows down immensely and Transmission becomes virtually unusuable.
I open the torrent file, a dialogue box pops up, i press "ok" and the torrent is added to transmission but is paused. For some reason, transmission cannot handle that at all and goes all bananas. It even becomes difficult to remove the said torrent, because TM is so unresponsive.
I have 2007 white macbook with Snow Leopard. Everything is fully updated.

Am i the only one with this problem, or is it a bug?

EDIT: Yes, I am running some other torrents simultaneously. Is it just over-load?

This is because Transmission already makes the files at the same size as they would be when they are fully downloaded. Just don't download files that are bigger then your HD space that you have left.

Downloading more than what you have space for seems like a dangerous idea, especially since bittorrent doesn't download files sequentially.
