How to check what files were downloaded?

Post by allanisj »

Hello, All;

This certainly looks like a stupid question, I know. But bear with me while I explain...

I have over 400 active torrents. Over 150 still downloading. When I am at the computer and a download is completed, Growl will nicely display its name, making it easy to know what has just finished. During the night, however, other torrents will finish and in the morning I find myself trying to figure out which ones amongst those 300 seeding files were completed.

I created separare folders for ‘transferring’ and ‘transferred’ but the time stamps on the files are not always current (meaning, I can't just sort by date created to find my recently downloaded files). Plus, I noticed not all downloaded files get moved to the ‘transferred’ folder (?!) which makes it, again, difficult to find the files.

Sorting the list by ‘activity’ worked well while I had a ‘5 concurrent uploads’ setting. I could simply go to ‘paused’ (filter) and recently completed files would be there, by the end of the list. But the ‘concurrent’ setting was hurting my ratio and seemed unfair to other people downloading. Besides, with my not-so-fast connection, reaching my desired 2.0 ratio was taking forever; that was how I ended up with 300+ files in the upload list to start with.

Now, with ‘max concurrent uploads’ off, uploading is going well but it is hard to find my recently downloaded files in the ‘seeding’ (filter) list.

Other sorting options don't really help me much. Queue Order, Date Added, Tracker... These are great but do not show me what I am looking for.

* Perfect would be a sorting by Date Completed but I do not see this anywhere.

I can't help but feel mine is a stupid question: other people certainly had similar problem and found the solution.

Can anyone shed a light here?

Thanks in advance.

Between banging my head against the wall and Googl-ing for a solution, I believe I found a compromise. I will set my Growl notifications for ‘Download Complete’ to ‘stiky’, meaning ‘Stay on Screen: Always’. It's not going to be pretty but certainly will help me with my ‘What did I finish downloading during the night’ problem...

Any other thoughts would be appreciated nonetheless.

I posted a ticket about this on trac actually, but it's been closed as not having a workable solution:

I'd still like to know what's wrong with the idea regarding a new sort option for "Date completed", as that seems an easy enough solution; accessible to those who need it, and hidden from those who don't.
