[locked, duplicate] Latest Transmission constantly crashing

Post by napierzaza »

Hello,

I have had this persistant problem with Transmission. Not just this version, but others. Basically, Transmission starts, and within 20 minutes of running, it freezes with the beach-ball. I'm sure it's Transmission, since I am not running anything else. The problem is that it doesn't crash out, the whole system seizes up and I can't do anything but hard reboot. I don't get a crash report, but below is the console information. I am being very conservative, I only run 3 torrents at a time with a max of 95kbs and 150 open connections. Nothing I have done has made it reliable.

EDIT: forgot to mention. Mac OS X 10.6 latest version. Transmission latest version. On a Mac Mini with 2GB ram. I haven't tried the web interface for a long time because it was problematic.

Me too.
1.9.0 crashes reliably - It never fails to crash.
I returned to 1.8.3 and all is well again.
I use a Mac Pro, 6 GB of memory, running 10.6.2.

Dear Transmission,
I could not find 1.8.3 on your web site to download, and it was impossible (for me) to find it elsewhere on the net.
Since, in my experience, 1.8.3 is the most stable version you have come up with so far, it would be great for you to offer it in the "Previous versions" section.
Please do so.

You make a great product - (well, almost always)
So, Thank you.

This is already being discussed in another forum thread. Please read to the end of that thread; there's a nightly build that reported fixes the crash and I'd like to get as many people trying it out as possible so that we can get a quick fix into 1.91.

To reduce forum clutter I'm going to lock this duplicate thread. Please continue this converation in the other thread. Thank you!
