I can't get Transmission's port to open

Post by ylime »

Transmission help says that if I can't get the port to open, I should post the output from my 'debug' message log here. This is what I'm getting:

Hello,

I was having the same issues. Im just an novice user . This is how I resolved it. If you are using a DSL router from at&T for example, you have to type in your router IP addresses in your internet browser. This will bring up your ISP setup page. Go to the firewall settings and enter in your password. go to other and allow the transmission access threw your firewall. At this time your files you have set to download will automatically start. you still will notice that your port will still indicate closed becasue the firewall settings have an option for stealth mode.

I posted this because the help guide and the F.A.Q does not really spell it out clearly for people like me who have no idea what the're doing..

Hope this helps!

P.S your router ip addresses is located in Preferences>Network> (Location)Fastaccess DSL >(configure) FastaccsessDSL

Hi! I'm new here and first want to give props up Transmission being one of the easiest clients I've ever got up and running!

ok - given I have the same exact issue, I hope you don't mind me piggy backing on this thread...

I'm running Transmission 1.92 and Mac OS X 10.6.3
I've verified my application Firewall has incoming connections permitted for Transmission ( i even tried taking down the Mac OS X firewall completely but it didn't help either)

I verified UPnP configured dd-wrt (13575M) with port 51413 just fine and here's what's in my debug log:

2010-04-18 10:52:20 -0700 upnp.c:105 [Info] Port Forwarding (UPnP): Found Internet Gateway Device "http://192.168.2.1:1780/control?WANIPConnection"
2010-04-18 10:52:20 -0700 upnp.c:107 [Info] Port Forwarding (UPnP): Local Address is "192.168.2.113"
2010-04-18 10:52:20 -0700 upnp.c:194 [Info] Port Forwarding (UPnP): Port forwarding through "http://192.168.2.1:1780/control?WANIPConnection", service "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:WANIPConnection:1". (local address: 192.168.2.113:51413)
2010-04-18 10:52:20 -0700 upnp.c:197 [Info] Port Forwarding (UPnP): Port forwarding successful!
2010-04-18 10:52:20 -0700 port-forwarding.c:87 [Info] Port Forwarding: State changed from "Not forwarded" to "Forwarded"

however, when I go to Preferences->Network, it says "port is closed" with the red dot.

I originally thought it was required to open the port to be able to upload and seed but now noticing it is now seeding at 40-100KB/s (yeay!)

I assume successfully opening this port will increase my download speed (which is only 12-20KB/s right now)?

Any other pointer anyone can give would be great - thanks!
