What OS are you running?
for Mac OS10.x
I need to set up permissions for sharing of what ever disk or router I use
otherwise perhaps it is a firewall issue and you need to add the new name to the accepted list

ARe you first uploading your torrent to the chosen tracker for acceptance
then downloading the new file torrent from that tracker(which will now have your own personal access key imbedde)
then running that torrent , while verifying the contents,
that is how I do it , DO YOU?

How big is the file?
The manner you might choose is :
A: use a FTP client like cyberduck
B: set yourself up as a server and link by remote to your friend
C: Voip call via SKYPE and send the file via the integrated file transfer mech, and while you chat with each other
or
D: use dropbox for all ...

I should not do that, if I do that here, the speed of other programms that are on the internet do dramatically slow down.
peculiar . As I manage sometimes to get 1.9 MB/s download (if there are enough peers)
and this does not sem to unduely slow my other surfing activities and my ISP is at bes 6 ...

well I would always leave the download as unlimited,it never really interferes with any other traffic I am doing
As for upload your figure if 90kb/s is a good place to start.
set it at that then you keep an eye on it and tweak it up until your downloads start to slow then put it back ...

Well , I don't exactly know why or how.
But my macbook had a kernel panic and crashed, followed instantly on rebooting by a further kernel panic and a crash.
on second safe reboot. discontinued all active programming and clear booted again.
Then reinitialized Transmission and Firefox, and now the ...

1. you do not need to stop or pause anything that transmission is currently doing
2. doesn't matter, I like to separate the types of files for my own quick referral, but you do not need to
