I was having the same issue with the mac client.
I solved it by opening transmission preferences, click "transfers", click "management", under "queues" put a checkmark on "transfer is stalled when inactive for:".
Hope that solution works for you.
^^^ This answer worked for me! Thanks! :D

Re: Creating a torrent to send files to a friend
No, like rapidshare, where you aren't dependent on seeders to share it with your friends, just the rapidshare server.
Isn't there a limit? Was going to try Megaupload but the limit is 1GB. I need to transfer 2GB. I'm also worried about being halfway through a transfer and it losing connection ...

Re: Creating a torrent to send files to a friend
That's really useful, thanks! How difficult is this to install? I know that's a bit of a lame question, but I want to check in advance because 1) I have a G4 server setup for bittorrent at home and don't want to mess it up, and 2) I need to be able to explain how to install this to my friend at the ...

Re: Creating a torrent to send files to a friend
Okay thanks for all your help, didn't realise there was a Mac sub-forum (oops). I don't think I'd dare use any of the "other guys" since I'd have to explain to my friend how to download and install, and I've not used anything but Transmission for so long it would probably be more trouble than it was ...

Re: Creating a torrent to send files to a friend
yes - it appears to be down at the moment
so I guess unless we use Transmission 2 in Leopard, I guess there's not much hope?

Re: Creating a torrent to send files to a friend
Thanks... Is there another tracker I can use? I heard that you can go ahead without a tracker even though it complains, is that worth a go?

Creating a torrent to send files to a friend
Hi there,
I'm trying to use Transmission 1.54 on Mac (Tiger) to create a torrent file to send to a friend so they can download a chunk of files from me... I'm using OpenBitTorrent as a tracker and it created it fine, checked the file and started seeding. I sent the torrent file to my friend, and it ...

Re: Can the Inspector pane please be "modeless"??
+1 on this!
Why would anyone want to run Transmission without the Inspector window open? The Inspector is much more than just a modal window. Modal windows are usually for alerts and forms that need to be submitted in order for the user to continue.
The problem with it being modal is that if you ...

Although... The previous case was an 800 MHz G4, my old torrent Mac is only 400 MHz (or maybe 450, I'm not sure)... Is Leopard going to bring it to its knees?

Re: New torrents on old Tiger Mac
Jowie, I don't want to sound like a zealot, but a G4 makes a very nice Linux machine.
Haha thanks, well maybe that's the way to go...
I've got an old G4 that I've been using purely as a torrent server, and I've now also inherited a Power Mac G5 that no longer supports my trusty lovely ADC Studio ...

Thanks... Unfortunately I just had a look and the torrents in question are Public... Is it still worth trying an older version?

Re: New torrents on old Tiger Mac
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions, but it's not to do with slow speed... Some torrents just won't download *anything*. They don't show any errors, they just won't connect to any peers. Other torrents work just fine.
I've been using this G4 running an old version of Transmission for a couple of years ...
