The "Unable to check port status" issue has nothing to do with any of this.

When you open your car door, the light goes on. If the light breaks, it has nothing to do with whether your car door is actually open, or whether there's some other problem. The same is true here.

It is affecting my downloading speed. I have 42 or more peers available in a download, but it is only getting 1, 2 no more than 4, and the speed is 0 or no more than 17 kB, some times.
I was having much better speed before.

Does anyone knows another torrent software, besides transmision ...

if you manually determine that your port status is okay, then there is no effect on the functionality of the bittorrent protocol or Transmission client and any problems thought to have been induced by this malfunction have been reported in this thread are merely coincidental or histrionic.

So between what Robby, you and waldorf have put forth, the "port status" feature of Transmission is merely an automation of checking your port status from an external entity such as the example cited, http://www.canyouseeme.org/ .

IOW, if you manually determine that your port status ...

Did you guys confirm that the port is actually closed? ( canyouseeme.org )

Because "unable to check port status" doesn't mean either closed or open. Just unable to reach the port check website. This should not affect speeds, and probably doesn't.

Thanks for the tip. Mine is indeed open. However ...

Same thing here. 1.2.2 on PowerBook 17"/10.4.11 (with security update), NAT enabled, tried nightly build, was working until day before yesterday. Cannot enable PEX now.
