Unable to check port status

Post by lehibrady »

I want to get my downloads working as well as possible and connect to as many peers as I can, but when I check my port status it says "Unable to check port status" and there's a little yellow dot. What does this mean? What can I do to ensure my port is forward and open? Should I follow the instructions in the Help -> How do I Port Forward" about an incompatible router or something else? I don't want to get in deeper than I understand and I'm already neck deep.

Same for me. The thing is my ports are actually open. They always have been. The torrent tracker confirms that they still are, and my download speeds are not affected. But instead of T showing the green port is open that it always has, I now get this message. Nothing changed since yesterday. It only started today.

yeah the same thing just happened to me, and it is affecting my uploads...for some reason I'm showing no peers on many of my open torrents

just to clarify:

it's not affecting my dl's
but is affecting my ul's (which are important)

Strangely this happened to me last night and this morning, I'm using 1.22+ 6336. I thought it was weird the Unable to check status error, but since it wasn't affecting my speed at all (I was still downloading and uploading at my max speed), I didn't really give it much attention.

it happened to me as well. Really weird, why does it happen to all of us at the same time? I don't have any clue.

In my case upload seems also to be affected.

Perhaps the site that is used to check whether the port is open is down.

Same thing here. 1.2.2 on PowerBook 17"/10.4.11 (with security update), NAT enabled, tried nightly build, was working until day before yesterday. Cannot enable PEX now.

Same thing for me. Was trying to port forward and this is stopping me...Of course I'll still have trouble figuring that out when this gets resolved.... :?

Joined just to mention that I too have the "unable to check port status" message. Obviously it isn't just a coincidence that it has affected so many users simultanesouly. Can a moderator or someone more knowledgeable shed some light on this situation? For myself it is affection my upload and download speeds. I am using 10.4.7(unable to upgrade to .11), and Transmission 1.01(4635).

Did you guys confirm that the port is actually closed? (canyouseeme.org)

Because "unable to check port status" doesn't mean either closed or open. Just unable to reach the port check website. This should not affect speeds, and probably doesn't.

Thanks for the tip. Mine is indeed open. However, my question is that since Transmission can't determine if it is open, could that affect the number of peers we're able to connect with in our swarm?
