I am looking for developers to start working on a Clutch like RSS companion application for Transmission.
Maybe we could continue the whole car theme and name it "Automatic".
Leopard comes with an RSS framework already built-in to the system, it is used in Safari, Automator, Mail, Dashboard, etc. It is called PubSub and it is very simple.
There is also an open source regular expressions framework available for Objective-C called http://regexkit.sourceforge.net/ (RegexKit).
The aim of the project is just to create a UI that binds all those parts together with some torrent specific options (i.e, built-in regex presets). It would be nice if we could make it Mac like and have a simple Boolean regex building UI (like the Finder smart search has).
I developed a crappy Automator solution, but it has many many issues. (see http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtop ... hlight=rss)
Is anybody interested?

I would definitely be interested in such a project.
I plan on giving the TVShow application's code a look through and find out more to see if its something I want to contribute to. That said, it is only running on OS X.

Re: Open source Transmission RSS companion
While its currently only for the NMT(kinda like a nas that plays 1080p videos) platform, you might want to check out Torrent Watch. The development branch is written in php5 so should be able to run on many platforms, although the code might need a little touching up here and there where it supports the quirks of the NMT platform. The dev branch supports uTorrent style Favorites, and a web based interface inspired by clutch is in the works.

I've written a command-line server tool called Automatic that adds RSS functionality to Transmission. It was developed on Linux and works well. Unfortunately I don't have any Macs laying around, so I can't test if it runs on OSX.
It would be very nice if someone could take the time and try to compile it on OSX. I'll gladly make any necessary changes to make it work.

Is this the appropriate thread for making feature requests for Automatic?

As been mentioned FlexGet is a very powerful and flexible torrent-feed parser. Add in Transmission RPC and you're golden.
Personally I think that they should focus on making Transmission best at downloading torrent and keep it at that. There is more than enough good tools out there to cover almost all of the other needs.

I agree with you blacke4dawn. Transmission + flexget ( working with work-dir or transmission-rpc) and you're fine ^^
