Verify Local Data lost?
Verify Local Data lost?
I was in the middle of a download only 8GB, I had made it about 4.4gb into it and I clicked on verify local data and I don't know why. But on the download bar half the line was blue the other half was yellow and when I did the verify I lost all the yellow. So I dropped back down to like 2.7GB instead of the 4.4 I had. When I look at the details and everything it says I have 5.5GB total of the download but the download bar itself only shows that I have 3.4 or something now. Is that other part that I lost during the verify data gone forever? What I am asking is do I just have to redownload all the yellow over again?

There is a bug related to "verifying data" removing torrent data:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/217692
I'm not sure what system your running though, I don't believe this bug exists in the Macintosh version of Transmission. In my experience I've seen something similar, however, it did not completely erase the data. Transmission began downloading at the end of the green bar, moved quickly over the yellow bar, and then resumed regular download speed after the yellow bar. I always assumed that the yellow bar meant that there was not enough blocks for the checksum to verify, not that it wasn't there.
P.S.--> I guess my best advice is to stay away from verify data. It initializes already when you restart a torrent. I know of no real good reason to initiate it yourself.

Re: Verify Local Data lost?
The post you are replying to is very old. There is no need to worry about "losing" data by initiating a verify unless there are real errors in the downloaded data. Feel free to confirm this for yourself.
