Can Transmission 1.42 tell my tracker that it's not 1.42?

Post by aixakt »

Hi,

I need your help. My English is bad but I hope you'll understand my problem.

On my Fritz!Box I have installed transmission 1.42. My tracker blocks the version 1.42. Is there a possibility that transmission 1.42 says: "I am transmission 1.40"?

For those of you who don't know about the possibility to run transmission on a Fritz!Box it is based on a linux OS. The page http://www.freetz.org gives more information.

Thank you for help.

I don't know of any release of Transmission that reports its version incorrectly.

If you have the source code to your build handy, you might take a peek at libtransmission/version.h and see what version it says you're using.

Trackers can tell when you're lying about stats like that, and will most certainly ban you on the spot.

It says on the website that they've updated transmission. So you should be able to load a new version of the freetz software onto your fritz box, after you compile it (there are likely instructions on their website). The new Transmission may then work with "your" tracker. (Whose tracker?)

I don't know of any trackers that block 1.42 but if one does exist you might use 1.50b2 or an older version, such as 1.34. Hope this helps.

And you can change the freetz config file to include the version you need. I've just done so to "downgrade" from 1.74 to 1.73 for the same reason...

At the moment I have my build VM down but if you want I can tell you the config file soon...

For obvious reasons, this feature will never be in any build from the Transmission team. :)

If you're making your own build, you might take a peek at libtransmission/version.h.
