Hello,
I'm a Mac (Leo 10.5.6) and recently upgraded to Transmission 1.5 (the latest stable version, right?). Everything was OK, but around last week, I added 3 more torrents in the download queue and my DL just drops to 0kb; all the seeds are there, and it keeps the messaging "downloading from X of Y seeds" at the bottom (neither X nor Y are 0; looks like keeps connected, but doesn't do any actual transfer).
My port is open, and the network seems fine; I tested my ISP with a web-based Java applet that told me that there wasn't any trafic shapping. And I'm right now downloading one of the torrents Transmission can't download with the Mac version of utorrent, in the same machine, and it's downloading really well. When I changed transmission default port (i believe to 10009, or something like that) it downloaded a little more and faster, but after about 5-10 minutes it stopped again). Transmission updated itself last week (or so), and I have 4 torrents in the download queue (when I was in 1.42 with 1-3 downloads, it worked OK; Transmission updated itself other times, without issues, but that happened before in 0.96 i believe).
Any guesses why this keeps happening?
(excuse me the awful writing, it's been a long, long time since I write anything in english...)
Transmission starts DL then completely drops to 0
Re: Transmission starts DL then completely drops to 0
Please work through the checklist at http://trac.transmissionbt.com/wiki/SlowSpeeds. Thanks!
Re: Transmission starts DL then completely drops to 0
That's the thing: i already did and it's all ok. It's so ok that i'm using 1.5 and having this issue, but in utorrent it's fine: same torrent, BTW.
Checked my network, ports, ISP, version (the newest, 1.5), it's all OK. But i have 4 downloads in queue, none is working (one of which tested and working in utorrent, as said before), and upgraded as soon as 1.5 was released. Before that, i downloaded everything well with transmission, but i can't remember of anytime downloading more that 3 files. Maybe i had 4 files in the queue, but can't remember because haven't had any problems.
If i pause all downloads and start only one of then, it starts slowly, and suddenly it drops to 0. Keeps telling there's seeds, and says i'm downloading from some of then (but the DL is still 0).

Re: Transmission starts DL then completely drops to 0
is your seeding speed capped?
Re: Transmission starts DL then completely drops to 0
Not at all, essiw, I used to limit my upload to 10-20 kbps, just so i could use my internet connection, but i did put an unlimited UL speed, and keeps just the same.
Re: Transmission starts DL then completely drops to 0
hmm if I put mine on unlimited my whole network is down... so I thought that could be the casefgiacomo wrote:Not at all, essiw, I used to limit my upload to 10-20 kbps, just so i could use my internet connection, but i did put an unlimited UL speed, and keeps just the same.
Re: Transmission starts DL then completely drops to 0
I have about the same problem.
I can be downloading a torrent with any speed (sometimes 1.1 MB/s or 700 KB/s or only 15 KB/s) and every 2 minutes (a rough estimate) the speed drops to 0.0 for about half a minute and then the torrents downloads again as if there never was a problem. It seems as if transmission stays connected to the peers as the message "Downloading from X of Y peers" and the peer list in the inspector persists. All other Internet apps like the Browser still work.
What's going on? Problem with my Router or Transmission?
I'm using Transmission for a long time now and never had this problem before...
Transmission 1.80b2 on Mac OSX 10.6.2
I was watching the console.app and the in-app message log but couldn't find anything really standing out except I get a lot of these:
but it didn't drop to 0.0 on any specific message.

Re: Transmission starts DL then completely drops to 0
I'm using r9726 right now and it seems (At least in the last 10 min. or so) it doesn't drop to 0.0 anymore
it just once droped to 0.0 for 1 sec and that could be because the swarm is small. I hope the problem is therefore fixed or at least made less annoying (just 1s drop compared to the 30s drops)
Will observe for a little wile longer.
//Edit: Droppage still occurs. 3 Torrents wiht all-in-all ~80 peers connected, with adequate swarms sometime just freeze for a couple of seconds while one of them drops to 0.0 for 5-10 sec. bah.

This bears incredibly big resemblance to a bug mentioned on the uTorrent boards: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=56897
