Dear All,

Although I've had numerous problems with recent releases this version seems to be doing the trick.

I've had Transmission 1.51 running for about an hour and the results so far are impressive. The details are:

1. Seeders/leachers are identified much faster.

2. I have two separate downloads running simultaneously and memory useage seems to be down as well.

3. The application also seems to be more stable.

4. All buttons are functional

I'll report back in a couple of hours with another update.

I love the "Sum:" line at the bottom of the torrent list for the command-line client. I was actually just going to come here and suggest something like this when I saw that the update had been posted. Thanks!

Big improvement for NAS use, CPU use is way down. Congratulations!

Just started testing, also on a real server (Gentoo on a Xeon-Duo) which never has problems like the NAS.

I also found the cause of one thing that has annoyed me since 1.4x versions, transmission-remote doesn't work right on the NAS (version 1.34 worked fine), turns out it is a bug on the compiler, had to change remote.c:1198 from using tag, which is 64-bit, to (int)tag; otherwise it wouldn't list, or show details, it always went into the default of the switch... seems like it can't compare long with int (which is the type of the enumeration).

With the previous release (1.50) i could click on the restart, show in finder icons ( right to the torrent) now I can't (maybe it will solve in time but I don't know yet) [tiger 10.4.11]

Out of idle curiosity I looked into the message log and noticed this:

Code: Select all

Port Forwarding (NAT-PMP) initnatpmp succeeded (0)
Port Forwarding (NAT-PMP) sendpublicaddressrequest succeeded (2)
Port Forwarding (UPnP) Found Internet Gateway Device "http://172.16.0.99/"
Port Forwarding (UPnP) Local Address is "172.16.0.4"
Port Forwarding (UPnP) Port forwarding through "http://172.16.0.99/", service "". (local address: 172.16.0.4:9090)
Port Forwarding (UPnP) Port forwarding successful!
Port Forwarding State changed from "Not forwarded" to "Forwarded"
I have static port forwarding configured on my gateway (which doesn't speak UPnP), so none of this is needed. However, I can vouch for the fact that 172.16.0.99 is not a "gateway device"--it is my printer. Whatever UPnP negotiation is going on there is complete nonsense.

You need to report this upstream to the libnatpmp developers.

I don't understand what has happened with the latest versions of Transmission. The last, maybe, 2-3-4 releases have been så incredibly slow and unresponsive, specially when ur downloading big torrents (~10 GB) on my 50 Mbit connection. With previous versions I had no problem getting to speeds like 5-6 Mb/s, but with the latest the program gets so lagging and unresponsive that it freezes if it even goes up to 1,5-2 Mb/s, and then after a time "starts over" at low speed. What has happened? It used to be fairly slow with the earlier releases also, but at least it could hold a download speed at about 5-6 Mb/s, although it took some time to bring the app to front and click buttons and such, but now the speed is much worse and it's even more unresponsive. Anyone know what this is about? Nothing else in my computer has changed, so it's gotta be these latest releases that's the problem...

same problem here,
it's actually 2 cases:
1- when torrents are bigger than 10 gb, transmission turns irresponsive, freezes and freezes the whole mac together. laggy etc.
2- when small torrents, but higher speed than 900 kb/s , transmission turns irresponsive, freezes and freezes the whole mac together. laggy etc.

my mac is up to date, etc...
i'm sure it's from transmission, because when i force quit, my mac gets better.

and right now i'm very upset, because i'm downloading bittorrent, though i hate it and i love transmission.

Yeah, mine is still left. I now only use transmission for small files to download, and µtorrent (it's beta for Mac I think) for bigger ~10GB files. µTorrent doesn't do well on the upload part, and it sometimes stops and starts the download, but there at least I geta good speed and it doens't chew up my mac.
