Newbie questions on launching and bandwidth sharing

Post by Spencer__ »

Hi,

I have two questions for you experts out there :)

1. I've noticed though that if Transmission is paused when I quit, on relaunch, it will remain paused. This is a problem when using Automator to start work at 0400 when my off-peak
cap starts :)

Is there something I can do to change this - or do I need to remember to quit while downloading?

2. How does Transmission share bandwidth with other apps? It seems to use all available bandwidth; is that the app or the OS (10.5.6)?

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing from someone.

Regards,

1. You can't pause T, you mean you pause all torrents? I think the only thing you can do about it is to start them before you quit. (or quit it if thety are still downloading)

2. It uses all bandwidth unless you cap it in preferences, it should be ok to cap it 70-80% of your actual bandwidth (especially do that with your upload speed because that causes much problems)

what you say is correct expect that some torrent programs have a feature that blocks people who don't upload, also for some private torrents you have to have a ratio above some number (let say 0,30) ottherwise you won't be able to download. Also it is not good for the torrent not to seed while downloading
