Can't connect to seeders

Post by evanj »

I currently have two torrents active. When I view the Peers in the Torrent Inspector, it clearly shows many peers leeching, but it simply won't connect to any of them. It says "Seeding to 0 of 21 Peers". Sometimes it will say "Seeding to 1 of 16 Peers" but it doesn't actually seed. I have the port forwarded, and yes it does show up as a green dot in the network tab in pref's. The peers who are showing up mostly don't have the entire file, so why isn't transmission seeding to them? It shows them, but it doesn't want to connect. I've tried checking and unchecking "Prefer Encrypted Peers", it doesn't make a difference.

Currently of the two torrents, one has 14 seeders and 55 leechers. The other has 312 seeders 15 leechers. Neither of them are seeding. Every once in a while they'll seed 8.0kb/s or so for about a half a second, but that's it.

the second one is normal, to much seeders so the chances that you'll seed are low, the first one should seed more then the second one though...

okay i just noticed something. in the peer inspector tab, it's only connecting to the peers who don't have a little lock next to their IP (usually only one or two don't have the lock). what does that mean?

those are coded peers (could named it wrong because I have a dutch version) Nothing to worry about, but in your preferences do you have under de tab peers after coding: the checkbox selected of "Choose coded peers before others" (or something like that 'cause I don't know the real sentence)

I've tried it with Vuze and it's not working either. This makes me think it's probably my router. I have a Netgear WGT624 V3 and my ISP is Comcast. I have port forwarding on, so what could it be?

...anybody? I really need to get my ratio up. I went to my girlfriend's house today and it was seeding at about 30-40 kb/s. Not great, but it was seeding there. Any ideas why it wouldn't here? Ports are forwarded. Ik comcast is on the list of bad IPS's for seeding, but I've always been able to seed at normal speeds. Also torrents from public trackers seed, it seems that the two torrents that I have from my private tracker both do not...so could this be router related, T related, or tracker related?

You just answered yourself.

If it works somewhere else the its not Transmission or tracker related. You are left with your router or Comcast as possible causes.

Isn't Comcast blocking torrent traffic? Sorry, I don't follow the news or that particular news, you should try encrypted traffic and a different port.

well i thought it might be comcast, but with public trackers it's working just fine. but then when i go somewhere else, both work fine...its puzzling. i'll try another port
