how to stop seeding a torrent if necessary?

Post by sgx3 »

hey how do you stop a torrent from seeding? I ask this because seeding slows my mac down when I play games or an application, so it would be good to know how to stop the seed then restart it again after I have finished with whatever I was doing.

You could either pause the seeding while you are playing or you could cap it to probably 80% of your max upload speed.

Still, it shouldn't slow down your Mac, tho, it should only make things that require internet load slower (since the seeding is uncapped).

I usually have more than one torrent going at the same time -- often some seeding and some leeching. It's more convenient for me to just quit Transmission and start it up again than it is to stop and restart the torrents individually. If you quit and re-start Transmission, Transmission will "remember" which torrents were running and will start where it left off.
