VERY slow download rate especially with multiple torrents

I'm not sure why this is happening.. I usually get 300kb/s at least even with the torrents I am currently downloading but last week I started getting really slow download rates like in the 30s and when I download multiple torrents even worse, like 3kb/s each which amounts to 20kb/s total. I have included a couple of pics to show the amount of peers on one of them. Image Image
My port is open by the way. Is there any reason for this? I just updated to 1.73 but I also tried the nightly builds and I still have the same problem. When I download files from the internet (firefox) I get speeds like 300kb/s so I have no idea why transmission is downloading so slow. My service provider is DCCNET in canada.
