Upgrade failed, downgrade to 1.54 failed too

Post by grouxh »

Sorry for butting in w/ this post (at least it us in the right place now, I'd hope)
I've been w/out Transmission for the last weeks and not found a solution yet.

I'm had the extremely stupid idea to try upgrading Transmission v1.54 to the most current version despite running OS X 10.4.11.
After I've discovered that anything newer than v1.54 would not work on my MacMini with Tiger, I've used AppZapper to get rid of the newer version, perference files and so on, and just downloaded v1.54 again.
One would assume, everything should be working as before -- yet it didn't:
Tracker Response is listed as "No Response (0)"
Numbers of Seeders/Leechers are "N/A"
In short: No transmission whatsoever.

I've searched around but so far no answer to my problem.

Many tx in advance for your hints and ideas.

Sounds like it's just a bad torrent file. Have you tried other files?

Definitely. As well as other torrent apps.
What it boils down to:
Seems like all programs that need to know my external IP address (such as Transmission or VLC) are cut off from this important information. So this is not just a problem with Transmission, ...
EDIT:
Problem solved  Dunno how Little Snitch' settings got changed somewhere on the way - but allowing apps such as BwanaDik and Transmission full access (again) to all ports helped. Thought this might be of interest to other users of Little Snitch.

Peer listening port remains closed thought, but that has not made much of a difference in the past anyway, as far as I could tell. And VLC is another (sad) story entirely.
