Remove Torrent File and Remove All Files grayed out

Post by maulrat1967 »

The "Remove Torrent File" and "Remove All Files" options no longer work for me, they're grayed out .... I tried the latest nightly build today and those options were missing so then I reinstalled the official version 1.73 (8832) and the options are there but they're grayed out ... I deleted the org.m0k.transmission.plist to see if that would fix the problem ... but no luck. Anyone have any suggestions of what I could do to fix this?

thanks, MR

These options were prone to breaking if the file was moved and other changes. That's why they are being removed in the next release.

This is a bummer, I frequently used the remove torrent file and never had any problems with it. Makes me want to downgrade back to 1.73 or whatever was the latest version before the feature was pulled

What's the new suggested way to trash a torrent file and all of its associated data?

Set Transmission to delete the torrent file when adding. If for some reason you need the torrent file, get it with Command-S.

I want Remove All Files back as well. Version 1.74 feels broken without it.

Personally, I've sorta gotten used to just setting the "delete torrent file when adding" since my original post a month ago. But what I'd really like to know is why my torrents keep doubling up on trackers when I'm downloading, this never used to happen before .... I wish I could remember which version this started with. Oh well, it would be nice to have the option to remove All Files back though.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "doubling up on trackers". Could you explain?

Yeah, I can't standing using Transmission without this. I guess it seems insignificant to some people but I'm having a really hard time managing my torrents and downloads now that this is gone.

As much as I love Transmission, and I LOVE transmission, I will be switching to another client until this feature is put back in or replaced with a similar feature to enable management of torrent files without having them deleted as soon as they're added. As far as I'm concerned that is not a proper way to manage .torrents.

It was nice having you as a user? This feature will not be returning - no one has rationally explained why this functionality is needed as opposed to retrieving the torrent files from the File menu option.

sometimes when I'm downloading multiple files I'll start getting errors saying that my peers limit has been reached and when I check the amount of files the tracker says that I'm transferring twice the amount of torrents than what I actually am transferring ... I have to use their flush option to remove the ghost torrents to get it back to normal ... I thought it was initially a tracker side problem but this only happens with Transmission and not when I use a different client and it only started a few versions ago

I see no one explaining exactly why, but plenty of people asking why. If you value your users (which, judging by this above statement, maybe you don't) you could at least listen to them with open ears. The ability to delete torrent files on-add does not flawlessly replace the "Remove All Files" functionality. Not by a long shot.

All that aside, if you insist on keeping this feature excluded, could you add the option to locate the torrent file itself? (Or maybe tell me where that option might currently lie. I cannot find it.) It would be helpful for those of us who don't work destructively. Also, strangely enough, I have a torrent hidden somewhere in my watched folder. An ill-named one which I cannot locate manually or via search. And so Transmission asks me about how I might like to add it every time I launch the program. So much nonsense for such a silly bother!
