Hi!
I'm implementing uTP support for rasterbar's libtorrent now and just thought that taking into account its quite a non trivial protocol - how about making separate library with this implementation so all bittorrent clients and libraries can benefit ? Will transmission developers be interested in this ?
With best from the Soul, Alex.
Implementing uTP
Re: Implementing uTP
After some discussion in LT's mailing list we settled for now to have a solid implementation in LT.. And then we'll see what to do next..
Re: Implementing uTP
Bummer dude, after reading a little about uTP, it sounds like a good thing to have in Transmission. Hope you still help to implement this.

Re: Implementing uTP
I'm helping, thats i'd say from what i know up to know depends mostly on transmission itself having(or mostly had and now seems like that is changing) intent to do everything themselves or the like. And this way like supporting "separation" and work duplication while there is a torrent library(or libraries if we speak about now) that can do most of the work for it..bollywood wrote:Bummer dude, after reading a little about uTP, it sounds like a good thing to have in Transmission. Re: Implementing uTP
While something like µTP is definitely a good idea, it is not clear that µTP as defined now is workable. I can see quite a few issues with µTP.
It's a pity that the µTorrent people chose to design and implement their protocol in secrecy, without consulting anyone. I hope it is not too late to redesign it.

Re: Implementing uTP
If you have what to propose - i'm pretty sure they would accept at least to consideration your rational improvements on the bittorrent.org forum for example.jch wrote:While something like µTP is definitely a good idea, it is not clear that µTP as defined now is workable. Ah, i see your post there..
Re: Implementing uTP
Let's hope so. I've got a whole list of those, but for now I only mentioned the most important one.Ideal wrote:m pretty sure they would accept at least to consideration your rational improvements on the bittorrent.org forum for example.
