1.80 = Not Working.

Post by neenja »

Macbook Pro Intel, 2.4ghz core duo, Snow Leopard 10.6.2

Previous version was the recent one.. 1.74 or 78? I dont know. I had a bunch of torrents downloading just fine. I updated today to 1.80 and now nothing works. When I try to quit the application it hangs, so I am forced to use a "force quit". After trying to start the application again, it just hangs giving me the beachball of death. I've reinstalled and rebooted and get the same problem.

Anyone else?

Yep, definitely a problem with this update. I have always updated via auto update. Never had a problem before. But this time after the update it just kept freezing. Had to Force Quit.

Clean install seems to have fixed it.

Having the same problem. Spinning beach ball of death.

Downgraded to 1.75, which is what the auto-update told me I had before I ran the update. Now, back to working perfectly.

Would appreciate any update on this. I'm really looking forward to a couple of the features in 1.80, but don't want to risk losing my current in progress torrents until I know this problem has been fixed.

By a clean reinstall, do you mean delete the files you listed, then re-download Transmission?

Also, I have my Transmission set to delete .torrent files after they're added, so I don't have any of the .torrent files from my current torrents. Is there something I can do to fix that?

I have the same problem. At first it wouldn't map the port, then it started to again after some restarts. Did a clean install and now it just sits there - No activity :( Think I'll downgrade.

This happened to me once before with a borked update. I'm going to wait a few days til upgrading from now on.

jbw - you'll find your torrents in Library/Application Support/Transmission

Clean install changed nothing for me.

Yeah, I got same result... Uploads/downloads frozen, spinning beach-ball of death. Reverted to 1.75 & everything works again.

Same issue here. Transmission hangs when torrent is added.
I have tried a clean install but got no improvement.

Those having issues, try a nightly build from http://transmission.xpjets.com/ and report back, good or bad.

@livings124, this build seems to be fine here.
No freeze on startup or adding torrent.

Same problem here -- I upgraded to 1.8 from 1.76 -- instant grief. Continual freeze ups --- caused Activity Monitor to freeze up as well when I was attempting to troubleshoot. Went back to 1.76 -- life is good again!!!!

Previous to this I had never experienced an issue when upgrading Transmission -- will certainly think twice before upgrading in the future -- if it ain't broke -- it don't need fixin'!!!

OS 10.5 on a 2ghz core 2 duo macbook.

Hi,

Same problems as previously described by others.

Just upgraded to last nightly build as indicated.

Result of nightly build is no hang on application start but download is intermittent; download and upload moves at a slow pace for a minute or two then everything goes to zero for a around 5 to 10 minutes than it starts slowly downloading again and so on.

Test done with healthy and highly seeded popular files; 5 separate files were used to ensure the issue was not with peers.

Hope this helps!
:)
