r10050, blocklist update panel stuck

Post by Ryoujin »

I just updated from r10048 to r10050. I haven't tried for a while but I updated the blocklist, and for some reason after it finished the loading bar it got stuck in Processing blocklist....

I can close the Preferences panel, but if I open it again it remains like the picture shown.

This sounds like an issue with http://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/2823 ... it's likely that the experimental, post-1.83 change in r10045 is causing this. Could you see if OS X is generating an error report on that freeze, and if so, attach it to ticket 2823?

Posted more information that I found out in the ticket you pointed out.

Edit: Cr*p, right as I finished writing over the trac ticket, tried to submit but it said I didn't have permissions (°_°)

This is what I wrote over there:

^Not sure if the extra after the Transmission tag has something to do with the bug.

At first I thought it could be because when it locked up there were new IPs in the database. Then I tried something else, updating the blocklist and as soon as it starts downloading, hide Transmission until the process is done; it locks up again.

I tried just moving another application over Transmission, but it seems only to happen when you hide it.

For the record, this bug doesn't crash Transmission, and I can still seed and download things. To get it fixed I close the application and re-open, and the bug is gone.

Edit 2: Just in case, bug still present in r10052.

Ryoujin: That first log from Transmission is expected and normal. The remainder are from another app. Are you still seeing blocklist issues in the nightly?

Yep, just updated to r10092, still showed up by doing the hiding while updating the blocklist trick.

As of r10352, the bug is still there. Nothing in the console that could be useful.

This is a bug in Mac OS X, and should only appear if you hide the app after the sheet appears.
