Hi all,
I've searched quite a bit and no one seems to have mentioned this problem/query before though there do seem to be some posts that appear similar.
Transmission used to work fine for me, and still works okay, though I am having some problems (not the least of which is the persistent "This port is closed" message).
The problem that I have is that Transmission seems to be overdownloading. A 700mb file that I downloaded earlier (I can't remember which version of Transmission) has as the total downloaded 700.7mb for a total file size of 700.2mb.
A 700mb file that I downloaded with v1.75 shows that to get the 700mb it actually downloaded 1.2gb.
Thought the issue was odd so I went back to an earlier version of Transmission that I had (v1.50) but the 700mb file I am currently downloading shows that I have download 125.2mb to only have 85.5mb. At this rate I am going to download over a gig again.
What could be causing such inefficient downloading?
About the only thing that I can think is that maybe the efficient file was downloaded at full speed and the inefficient ones are occurring once my speed has been shaped.
What does everyone think? Is there a way to fix this?

Re: Amount Downloaded vs. Amount Have
I have a feeling that it was in the 15-20mb range, but I can't remember how much the failed download was on the 700mb file that downloaded over a gig was because after waiting for a week or more I deleted it in disgust, but it wasn't much, certainly it wasn't the difference between the two.
The partial download is now up to 158.2mb downloaded but I only have 108.9mb. On that download the failed is 0 bytes.

Re: Amount Downloaded vs. Amount Have
I have the same problem:
- file size: 699,8 MB
- have: 577.5 MB (576.4 MB verified)
- progress: 82.53%
- downloaded: 761.7 MB
- uploaded: 194.2 MB
- error: none
I thought of some transport overhead, but 379,8 MB out of 577,5 MB seems to be way too much...
Anyone has any ideas?
Using Transmission 1.83.
By the way: I attached my message here because I was searching for information about this problem, but I'm using Transmission under Linux, not Mac.

Re: Amount Downloaded vs. Amount Have
This subject has appeared on a few other threads, see: http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtop ... f=4&t=9471
but if i am not mistaken, it remains unresolved.
I had the same problem with 1.83 and have since downgraded to 1.76.
Does anyone know if the problem has been sorted? Thanks
