Checking existing data takes forever!!!! HELP!!!

Okay, ive searched online for the solutions, but most of the articles ive read involve an external HD. My files are all located on my MBP itself. But yet i get stuff like that below. Its taking ages and i have no idea why. Im using 1.90 of transmission HELP!!!!

it does take a long time to check through files that big. i get impatient with one of them, but you have several, so yeah, will take a while. i don't think there's a way around it.

i did not request it. it just occured randomly. ive been using it for over a year and have not encountered anything like this. i dont pause the downloads, but i quit it before shutting down my computer.

Yeah I'm having the same problem. I came onto the forum for the same issue. I've been using Transmission for a couple years, and I've had other issues, but this is the first time this has come about. 1 file has been stuck "Checking existing data 100.00%" and the other file says "waiting to check existing data."

Yer! I have quite a few downloads that seemed to be stuck for ages at the same %. I paused them allowing the next file to be verified, after the process ended I restarted the paused downloads.

i solved mine. no idea how i did it though. i just paused all of them. and resumed one by one. sometimes the one i resumed gets stuck at a certain percentage. i just paused and re-resumed. or just paused all and restarted com/transmission. until i get all done. kinda a trial and error for me.

The stuck percentage bug you're seeing could just be a display bug. I've had Transmission tell me that its progress was at ~60% when it really was starting from the beginning. It did finish and other queued verifications happened without problem. nictan, 39GB is a lot of data to verify and there's no way to speed up verification past the bottleneck of the hard drive. Verification should speed up once ticket 532 is added. Files that you don't want are still allocated on the hard drive to their full size to place the pieces that are needed to verify the files you did download.

I have a similar problem where the data check literally stops at some percentage and doesn't move no matter how patient I am. It also slowed down my mac to an unbearable crawl.

I removed the torrent from the list, and reopened it. It starts the verification over but finished in a reasonable amount of time. It fixed the performance problem as well. Hopefully it works for some of you too.
