Port Forwarding

I'm seeing comments about setting port forwarding. Could someone explain what it is, what it does and how and if you should do it? Thanks

The Transmission "Help" file explains it very well, imo. Read it slowly and carefully, and follow any in-file links when necessary. It's really quite clear.

Open Transmission, then click "Help-->Transmission Help".
