Seeding priority

Post by crankyjack »

Hi, all.

I wonder if torrent priority affects seeding too. How?

I regularly see this:

I have two torrents: A with many leechers, B with few.
If I manually throttle the upload rate of A, the upload rate of B increases significantly.
I would expect to see some increase in the upload rate of B if I set it to a high priority.
But there is none, all leechers seem to get about the same fraction of global upload limit…

I'd find this desirable as well. I'd much prefer to give priority to sites where the tracking ratio is important. Manually throttling the other torrents winds up providing less service during those periods when no-one is uploading one of my higher priority torrents.

I vaguely recall it working that way when I first started using Transmission, but could just be crazed.
