I've been using Transmission for a long time, and intensely for the past few weeks. After upgrading a few days ago to 2.03, I noticed a greater usage of resources by kernel_task. It is usually at 70-90%, and Transmission goes between 40-90%.
Pausing transfers reduces the load to normal. It also seems to be associated with downloading, not uploading/seeding. With downloading, kernel_task is higher than Transmission, but when downloading ceases, kernel_task drops to 7-10%, and transmission stays at ~40% (normal i think).
As I said, this is unusual resource utilization on my machine with Transmission. I tried downgrading to 2.01, with no change. I haven't done a clean install because of transfers I'm seeding. I would do that if someone could instruct me on how to restore those (the torrent files were trashed after adding).
Thanks!
Transmission high cpu usage
Re: Transmission high cpu usage
I noticed that my internet speed was slow recently as well. I just switched back to wireless from an ethernet connection, and now I'm enjoying the usual high speeds of a cable hookup. Also, Transmission and kernel_task are back to normal utilization. Very strange to me. Any ideas of why?!

Yeah, I'm seeing similar behaviour. On a MacBook Pro. The latest nightly build didn't help. WTF.
