i currently have Transmission 2.01+ (10899) running on a torrent with a very unfavorable seed/peer ratio (5/200) and it's doing very well -- both up and down.
one big improvement i noticed with the 2* versions is that Transmission is making much better decisions on which peers to connect with. looking at peer list in real time my upload slots are now going to peers that return something. it seems in the older versions it would upload for long periods of time to some peers that returned zero, really making it slow. i think it's only fair that a client prefer those peers willing to share what they have.
Just wanted to share that I had to restart the daemon on all four of my servers.
Access was denied over the webUI due to "to many open files".
Full CPU load.
T 2.01 on Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04
The other one I'm running on a VPS is behaving OK until now.
Dont know whats changed code wise but for some reason now when changing from onpeak to offpeak the system hangs.
Similar situation that i used to get with 1.9X but was working fine with 2.00.
Will roll back to 2.00 for now to make sure that it is not some Apple update screwing things around.
