[Feature request] Automatically disable (all/some) trackers

Post by Veikk0 »

Searched for a similar request and didn't find one, but if this has already been requested I hope you can forgive me.

So, now that we have DHT and PEX, not everyone wants to put up their IP address on the public notice boards also known as trackers. Therefore I suggest adding a "Disable trackers" checkbox to the settings of individual torrents as well as to the 'Add torrents' dialog and the global preferences. Further options, such as (only) allowing private trackers and blacklisting/whitelisting of trackers would be very useful and much appreciated.

It's already possible to remove trackers but it has to be done manually AFTER the torrent has been added. Of course one can disable the 'Start when added' checkbox when adding a torrent, then remove the tracker(s) and finally start downloading. But since this has to be done manually for each torrent it's a bit too much of a hassle.

I've been using only DHT and PEX for some months now and there's been no lack of seeds (thus far). 8-)

Thank you for all the time and effort you put into the development of this great bittorrent client. :)

If you really want to keep some trackers from getting your ip, you could restrict them with an outbound firewall or reroute them to anywhere in your hosts file.

I would still like to have this feature or even remove a tracker in the web-gui just to get rid of the "access restricted" messages from some trackers.
