[ANSWERED] Simple Q: web seeds

Post by sparky »

In the Peers pane for one of my downloads, the pane is split into 2 parts: the usual "IP address; %; UL; DL" columns. Above that section is a short section titled Web Seeds.

None of my other downloads has this Web Seeds section.

What is Web Seeds? How do I use it? Why does only this one download have it?

Thanks,
Sparky

Hi Sparky,

Webseeds are added to torrents s.t. the file can be served from a website and pieces can be downloaded in parallel from there and from other torrent peers.

The reason only that one download has it is that webseeds are pretty rare, and that's the only one that you've come across so far. :)

Thanks.

The Web Seeds list is empty. (But so are all the other download details: I've found no seeds for this file yet... still waiting) :-(

So the Web Seeds is a function of the uploader? I have no control over these?

Thanks again,
Sparky

Right, it's a function of the person who created the .torrent.
