Apple Airport Extreme Users report-Global Max Connections

Post by drayon »

I've asked on many different forums to discover how many simultaneous NAT connections the Apple Airport Extreme is capable of. No-one has been able to provide any useful information. I've read the SmallNetBuilder review of the AAE dual band, he states the device has 128MB RAM, yet goes on to say the device could only handle 128 connections. He doesn't make it clear what kind of connection he was talking about. Any device with that much RAM (128MB) should be able to handle way more than 20,000+ connection, perhaps even a few hundred thousand in my experience. A router with as little as 16MB RAM can easily handle 3000 NAT connections without any appreciable slow down.

So, i'm gonna put it out there to AAE users here who have a great deal of experience Torrenting with Transmission.

If you've manipulated the 'Global maximum connections' in Transmission on this router to do torture testing and you have a good idea about the performance of this router, please post. I'd appreciate if you could post roughly (what you consider) how many connections the router can do without slowing down and potentially crashing.

Thanks
