Update 2.12 Slows Internet Connection
Update 2.12 Slows Internet Connection
I've been using Transmission for a few years now and have never experienced internet slow-down to this extent. Ever since the update, any torrent I try to download, no matter how small, slows my internet connection down to the point where I can't work on my laptop (I work from home). I have to save my downloads for the nighttime while I sleep. I have not changed any of my settings which I have had since I first started using Transmission, so I'm assuming that can't be the issue. I may just have to go back to an earlier version. Anyone else experiencing this?

And your point is? I thought I'd post this on its own rather than as a reply to someone else's complaint so it would get some attention. Is that not allowed?
I took your advice and R/R/R -- we'll see what that does. But again, never had to do this with previous versions of Transmission.

Re: Update 2.12 Slows Internet Connection
I had this problem on my mac mini using wifi it would just slow down and slow every other device down too.
I switched off wifi and used ethernet cable and have never had the problem again.
I think it was to do with wifi and my router, seemed like the mac wanted to suck up all the bandwidth available when it was on wifi.
Not sure if your using wifi or ethernet but you could give it a try.

Re: Update 2.12 Slows Internet Connection
I have this same problem. I have adjusted my setting as above, but the problem still happens. It weird as even when there is no activity, of very low activity, my internet grinds to a halt, so slow I can't even open google. The internet is definitely fast enough I can play xbox live and surf at the same time.
Re: Update 2.12 Slows Internet Connection
Hi! I've got the same problem... whenever I start a BT client such as Transmission my internet connection throughput decreases more and more... until I can't barely open google...
At my router's troubleshooting page, I get some traffic stats in which I can see that no Tx Packet loss is suffered until I run the BT client... once I start it some minimal errors occur, but as some minutes pass, there are more and more errors, reaching a rate of 30% of the TX packets to be lost...
I thought it might be a Transmission issue and so I downloaded another BT client... but even when this situation happens after about 15 minutes with the new client while transmission causes the mentioned internet service degradation instantly, the same situation occurs: after some time, the internet connection is almost lost
Installing 2.13 didn't solve the issue
There are no significant RX packet errors, but, as said, up to a 30% of the data my MAC is sending is lost...
Any help?
THANKS!!

Re: Update 2.12 Slows Internet Connection
Spino: Have you capped your speeds? If you're running Transmission without limiting the bandwidth, it will use everything and will normally congest the network.
